Sarah Mae Week Two

Week Two Assignment

Free "Soundspiration" Mix:

I decided to find my sounds by entering words into the freesound search box that pleased me. I used giggle, trees, pink, yellow, whale song and beach. These are the sounds I liked based on what the vibrations looked like on the freesound images of them. I can't listen to them on my home computer so I will experience them for the first time tomorrow in the lab at USF. I really selected them based on how they looked .... let me know if you find them interesting!

And now, some other snippets I recommend from the written words and shared sounds of my fellow classmates...

Week Two Blogs

Blog 1: 1-18-07 My thanks to Kristopher for acknowledging my plight - although he was not one of the people who inflicted harm. (See my comments on his blog). In addition, my thanks to Brian, Caitlin and Stephen as well for their encouragement. Your kindnesses are appreciated.

I am in a better place today although I am still feeling a bit unnerved. It is not an easy task to be immersed in academia after so many years away, but, the fact remains that I am an honor student carrying a full time class load with a myriad of things to contribute to any course I am a part of.

So, with that said, even though my writing style is laced with the structure of my entrenchment in the business world I look foward to learning from the rest of you about how to let my words flow as freely on the page as my paints do on a canvas.

Thank you to all of you who are willing to share, contribute and encourage. You rock!

Sarah, your presence and participation in the class is appreciated by myself as well as others. It is the very diversity of the class that makes it so fascinating. The fact that we are all on our own unique journeys that have intersected at this time and place where we get to learn a little about each other and hopefully through that process about ourselves as well is exactly why it's all good. You rock! -Brian

Blog 2: 1-19-07 Today is a bright new day filled with the yellow hues of sunlight and revery. It will be crammed full of positive vibes for me today as I continue on my journey to become an educator. I will continue to fill my world with positive rhythms and let the negative ones fall to the wayside like dust off the back of a camel. I will free myself to write like I paint or create my art work - freely and without distractions. I will use as many words as I can like brushstrokes on a painting without regard for their hues. Each sentense will become a nuance in the collage of words that I use to create imagery and beauty. Today will be my emancipation from the rhythms of my previous drudgery in the administrative world!

Blog 3: 1-22-07 The weekend was filled with activity, a varitable rainbow of color and a variety of work and school related projects. Today class was a mix of interesting group work and activities related to teaching science. Now I am in work mode which I would describe as shades of black, gray and white as I meet deadlines and expectations. I have not been able to find any appropriate sounds, but think I will use the days activities as my muse as I create a fusion for this weeks project.

Blog 4: 1-24-07 It has been a frustrating journey trying to mix my sound. My home computer does not have a willing spirit when it comes to sound or files that are challenging and as a result has chosen to put a dark cloud over my efforts. I have risen above it and chosen to post four sounds "sight" unheard. They were chosen via a process I will choose to call "soundspiration" using words to search for them that simply - please me. Check them out at:

I feel you on this problem...my internet explorer took a dump when I was running like 4 or 5 sounds at the same time. I had to go back and find all the sounds all over again. Talk about frustration!
